Renderer/Plasterer Needed - Milton Keynes or Around

We recently moved from the North to Milton Keynes ....and due to DAFT house prices here ...we decided to build on some land my wife family had ...sounds good...and it is...

So we chose a Potton house ...Timber frame ..its the basic package as we didn't have lots of cash to splash ...and trust me ...a year in EVERYTHING costs more when you are building a house ....but you guys probably know that already.

anyway its getting there ....roofers are in now and thoughts turn to the exterior finish ...Now my brickie is due to start in 2 weeks ...but being one of those "heritage" style buildings ...the top half is rendered (or similar)

Now when my dad was a builder (he is 94 now ..bless him) ...rendering meant slapping sand and cement on blockwork or common brick and occasionally chucking stones at it ...LOL. But I hear it has moved on :)

Now Potton recommend Stucanet and Sand and Cement Finish ...then paint. But almost ALL the guys I have had in for quotes are talking Self coloured Polymer whatsimadoobry ...

So I am looking for advice...and maybe someone in the Milton keynes area that might want a job :) ...In about 2 months

I do have some piccies ..so you can see where we are up to ...few more roof tiles on since this taken a week ago though

Oh ...one of he chaps that came over to quote me a few weeks ago ...mentioned the "rafter feet" ....so i have added them ...apparently they can be a "arse-ache" to work around ...they are little bits of 4x2 that stick out and "pretend" that they are part of the roof ..its all for the look ...as you can see I have been at them with the paint ....its one job I am not half bad at !

I have been reading this forum for a few weeks before joining ...and I am figuring if you guys dont know about what i need ...then I may as well give up :)

Probably still in bed as he posted at half three in the morning . how about the internal work as well ?

I wish I WAS in bed brother !
I spent all day putting in drainage and cracking through 40n concrete to get most of it in, groundworkers left me with 2in stubs poking out under the beam and block :(

all sorted now ..up bright and early on sunday to get it concreted and benched up

and no, i dont sleep much anyway :)

Where abouts in MK are you?

Brooklands Pal,
that being said ...Milton Keynes is a lot smaller than Manchester ...If you have ever been ..you can drive from one side to the other in 10 minutes.....thats 30 roundabouts though ! ..this place is riddled with them

Well ..thats a sticky one ...

I have a good chippy lined up ..really nice guy ...and his mate is a plasterer and I get the impression he would LIKE to work with him ...He came around and measured up last week. I suppose there is some sense to it with all this new build 1st fix, 2nd fix shennanigans ....

But we are currently over budget by about 15k already ...and we haven't touched the insides yet ...so I am afraid it MAY come down to price .. I was honest ..I told him I am still getting quotes ...The door is open until the spit and handshake ...thats the way i do it

(actually we can leave out the spit bit)

tried them links Zolco...
I dont think I have permission yet ...

I suppose it takes time ...in case I am once of them "undesireables" you get on forums....

you know the ones..flogging viagra, plastic rolex's or telling you about their niece 19yr old Sonya ..who only needs 500 euros to leave Ukraine and find a kind man that enjoys "Bedroom athletics"
