Hey all. I'm Ash a plasterer from the South west of England. Never used this site before but I'm hoping to get some advice about work in Northern Ireland. I'm site skimming now with 1 other spread and labourer but would be going alone to Ireland with my family (not a career choice!) Can anyone tell me if there's a call for skimmers around North Belfast area and if there's any recommended contractors to subbie for. Totally in the dark here so any advice welcomed

The Irish don't specialise in the same way that brits do. You'll likely have to get some sort of improver type work until you can get up to speed in other areas.

Still mostly sand and cement in Ireland, inside and out.

Napoleon that's not entirely true. The guy I trained up, moved back to Ireland quite some years ago and is still a plasterer to this day.

You do skimming and rendering though, Chubb.

The man here was asking about skimming. Not much use to you when the boss asks you to go and set the quoins and window bands on the house he's doing today.

Or specialising in k rend when it's virtually unheard of here.

His best bet is to get a drum and join the marching season. My wife was born in Lisburn in CO.Antrim. it is drumming country.
