Refina have to give their outlets a discount or they simply would not stock their items, also if they undercut them they would stop selling them because everybody would deal direct with the ompany themselves. Simple answer and solution is don't deal direct with Refina.

By the way it's still good to have a representative of a company come on here and keep us updated etc so give them some credit for that at least.

I didn't want to pick up on too many things at once lol. I just can't help think that a company as large as yourselves could be a bit more competitive at times. As I've said in the past I buy your tools off a company who just rings you up and gives you my details. He is cheaper and free delivery. I understand if they buy a lot then they get discounts but there's no insentive for us to come direct to you.

I got a price off this company for 2 hop ups. The were considerably cheaper with free delivery. Phoned refina and told the girl on the phone and her reply was 'that's fine because we still get the sale so it doesn't matter to us' so I did.

I told Leon about this and he said she was wrong to say that and that it needs looking into

Phoned refina again a couple of months back regarding a s*p*r*lex trowel. Again told them I've had a cheaper offer and was basically told that's the final price. Like I said there's no insentive to come direct to you

This is all good feedback for us beddy, first of all i apologise for being told that we still get the sale!! That definitely shouldn't have been said.

Unfortunately the boss isnt in today as he's ill. But i will be showing him this feed to see what he can do. We do aim to compete with other suppliers, but sometimes we simply cannot compete.

I'll let you know what sort of response I get and see if we can do something about it to make you want to come back to us!!

How much is a new swith/trigger mate, i know it needs one so pointless sending if its not gonna be worth it .

Ignore Beddy by the way he's just mardy, he probs still wouldn't be happy if yo deliverd in person and tucked him up in bed with some coco:RpS_biggrin:

Depending on the machine of course but the standard switch is £18.95+VAT. There's a number on the back of the switch that identifies it so that we ensure we get the right one!

As for beddy, we like to do our best to please everyone!! even the grumps (I only joke beddy)

do you not think that the speed skim once the ss blades are available are goin to be a big problem with your sales though cos you can easily change speedskims blades your self in seconds, i was under the impression your new blue spat was goin to be changeable on site. (not trying to agrovate ya just a honest question) plus once speedskim release the pole attachment with the ss blades itll be pretty much the same set up as your spats but cheaper and we can change the blades our selves

haha dont worry, im fairly thick skinned after being on here a while.

obviously the speedskim will pose a threat to our market as its a good product, but there will always be some people that prefer our spat.

This will be something we have to look at with the imminent arrival of the speedskim SS and hopefully it will be ok.

yeah i was just thinking if ur spat could be made so that all we had to do was order the blades and change them ourselves it would work out better for the consumer rather than haveing to pay the postage back to you then the tool is with you for x amount of days plus how much it costs for the new blade and postage back, where as speedskim all you have to do it release the clips slide blade out and replace and away you go leaving the tradesman with very little down time and the tool is always working for you rather than costing you money to post to and fro

I would of thought if anything Regina would be cheaper necusr you're going direct ?.......youre not a subsidary of Travis Perkins are you?

I have spoken to Peter about the speedskim threat and our main redeeming factor is that the blade on our s*p*r*lex is ultra thin stainless, this is a hard thing to copy and so it is likely that the Speedskim blade will be more like a large finishing spatula with a medium duty blade. We will be interested to hear some feedback when the product is out to see how it compares.

We are also working on an entire range of trowels and spats that have the interchangeable blade, so you can use both plastic and SS.

As for the new s*p*r*lex blades and the postage, we will be more than willing to send the new blade out to you, so you can replace it yourself, but we are worried that it may be a bit tricky. But again, we will be looking for your feedback replacing them yourselves nearer the time.

Beddy, as promised i have spoken to Peter (the director) about the issues. He has given me this reply, hope it clears a few things up:

Thanks for your post
Refina supply over 65% of our tool sales through merchants who get a resale discount
We can’t expect our merchant customers to offer a local service and then Refina undercut them on price
The logic to it is that local merchants can offer a competitive price of the faster selling tools, and Refina can supply direct the more specialist items that would not generally be available through stockists
Refina can offer next day service, spares and repair back up. For regular customers we can offer a discount and we will be offering more trade special offers in the future
Your comments are appreciated

Peter Gray

So is refina just a 'middle man' between manufacturers and retailers? I never realised refina sold that much to other retailers. Thank Peter grey for taking the time to reply

we like to think of ourselves as more than a middle man as we obviously have to source all the products and ship them. We do a lot of sales to retailers, however, the power tools side of things (megamixers etc) we are the retailer to the independant plasterer. Hence you get the offers on these products, such as the free tools etc. Hope this helps beddy :RpS_thumbup:
