Plastering over wall, where chimney breast has been removed

I'm sure i know the answer, but here we go. I live in a terraced house. My neighbour has had his chimney breast removed. He has plastered the entire wall with carlite plaster some time ago. He says he has a damp patch, approximately 150mm square about 2m above floor level. He claims the damp has come from my chimney (chimneys are back to back, Edwardian house). My chimney is capped with a ventilated cowl and has an airbrick at the base. My side shows no damp on my chimney breast. My room was plastered using limelite renovators plaster. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Tell you share £3k bill or live with damp patch
