plastering over combed artex ceiling

Whats the best way to tackle this?? Thistle Bond and re-skim or re-board..l know re boarding will bang the price up and would prefer not to. Any suggestions

the way I got rid in my own property was by using a steamer and scrapping it off which was very messy and time consuming but worked a treat but if I was to do it again I would probably use the bond and reskim it

Oh........and just make sure the artex/paint is 'sound' on the substrate beforehand.
