Plastering a large ceiling in two parts

I need to finish plaster the ceiling in my kitchen but it is too large for me to do in one go as I'm just not fast enough. I can plaster half of it though. So my idea is to plaster one half first and then do the other half when I've finished that. I need advice on how to blend the two halves where they meet.
I had two ideas, first to run a batten down the middle of the ceiling and plaster up to that. And second, try to feather as best I can when I get near to the middle. In both cases I would then fill the gap left between the two areas with easifill and sand it down to hopefully give a neat join between them.
With the batten idea I'm worried that there could be a small ridge of plaster sticking out where the plaster meets the batten. With the feathering idea I'm not sure I have the skill as it's not something I've done before.
Advice please on this and any better ways I might do it.

Run scrim right across where you want to join. Just before last trowel pull it off and scrape off any residue from under the scrim. Skim upto finished part. Tight coat of filler on joint and sand.

I'm having difficulty visualising what you mean. So when you say just before the last trowel, you mean on the second coat? And am I plastering just up to the scrim or over it? And because I'm doing two halves do I need to put scrim up again for the second half. As I say I just can't visualise what you mean. Can you explain in a bit more detail please for a beginner?

Don’t forget to post pictures up on here when you’re finished (y)
