Ok tough one here I have someone owes me money (another spread) what's the best route ? He dodging phone calls and moved house so no joy with trying the legal way as I have no address. it's 2k so a fair amount and could really do with it.

[QUO TE=Wezly;711325]It goes without saying that you should **** on his doorstep.[/QUOTE]
As I said I can't find his doorstep to **** on

Find out which merchants he uses and wait about each morning. Follow him to the job then knock the door and tell the customers what hes like. Do this for a month.

It's a 4 hour travel for me I only went down to help him out when his machine was broken and we used mine stayed for 3 weeks to help him catch up

*******,gutted for ya mate, hope you get it sorted soon

Not sure if this works but if you knew his van reg you can pay the dvla £30 and you can get the owners address etc but like I said not 100% it's true

Report him to HMRC for tax evasion. Maybe wont get your money but if he gets investigated it'll be absolute hell for him

why did you let yourself get in this position in the first place?
before you chase good money after bad, are you sure that this person has got 2 grand?

I went to help a fellow plasterer out he kept telling me there was a delay in payment from Main contractor which I know can happen. I have spoken to the contractor and they have proof they paid him so regardless if he has or hasn't got the money he has had it !!!

but you where NOT working for the main contractor. you where not on some profit or loss scheme.who in their right mind would agree to that set up?
it is not regardless if he has or has not got the money, it is your problem how to collect your money, and as you have so little imformation about your debtor it will cost money to find out. therefore you may be chasing good money after bad.

Yes Malc I understand that but at the same time as I said I was there as a favour to help him out. He was the guy I was invoicing so I was subbing off a subby (which I'm sure we all have done) I had nothing to do with the main contractor until I have spoken to them about if they paid him.

If you have proof that you've done the work could you report to police? If not any mutual contacts to get current address etc. Failing that big lesson learned I guess mate.

Feel for you at this time of year mate.

Good Luck

When my tenants fall behind with the rent I get a more reputable debt collection.company to chase them up. They send them snotty legal type letters and take a % of monies recovered.

I'm using The Plasterers Forum Mobile App

If you know the blokes' suppliers/builders merchants go into a local branch and ask the manager if they have an onward address for him :RpS_thumbup:

Just chase the money via official channels like others have said ... once your moneys sorted just bide your time ... the opportune moment will arise where you can smash the living **** out of him !!

get a mate to call him for a quote ( he must advertise ) then when he comes in the house.. tie the f**k*r up and give him a bit of a slap until he agrees to pay up... take him to the bank, after pocketing his van keys.. once paid throw his keys down a drain.. sorted.. and tell him if he reports this to the police hes fukin avin it... if police do come, just deny everything...

that's as proper bad do that pal and think the lads have given some good ideas? I really hope you get your money as its a bad*Ards trick! think beddys idea of grassing to the inland rev is a good in as they investigate anything like that plus keep tabs on him in the future. I hope he gets what's coming to him!! good luck

Lol I like all the suggestion I would name and shame him but I know he was a member on here don't know if he lurking still in the shadows I know others (on here) have fallen out with him over the same job with him stitching them up.

if that is the case I think its only right he gets named?? especially if he has ripped other spreads off as well ?? what does everybody else think?
