plasterboard and stud 'floating alcove shelf'

Nearly fell off my chair when I saw the price of a carpenters quote for alcove floating shelves that go from the wall to the fireplace.

the alternative is ikea floating shelves cut then decoraters caulked.

But what about shelves made from stuf and plasterboard and then skim?

By stuff u mean 3x2 or sumit ? You could do wouldnt take long to get the timber in really couple of cuttins of board and ya flyin
