Pigment colour into lime render

Hello,
Can I quiz the lime render community?
We are just about to have our devon barn lime rendered over cob, we are wondering if there is anyone out there that has mixed in a strong pigment colour into the float and dash coats. We want to have a colour close to the devon red of the local soil. Are there any pitfalls ? Obviously it will take extra care to mix into the lime render, but our renderers are happy to do it.
Thanks

When we built our bungalow we used red mortar for the brickwork.
we ordered sand with the dye added the quarry to make sure that it was all the same colour throughout. we had the sand delivered in a skip to make sure there was not contaminated.
i have also used red sand and cement when the client a Californian style render.
i would guess that this method would work with a lime mortar.

Thanks, was the dye in powder form?
