is it just me or av any of you had this before
its dun me nut in for the last yr cause hurt to drive now were puts pressure on me chest

ive had that before....
went to the docs on a friday night after spending all week on top lift of a factory scaffold in the p'ssing rain...
sent me home with a prescription (yes PRESCRIPTION) for paracetamol.... 'youve just got a mild chest infection, nothing to worry about'..
2 oclock following morning im in an ambulance, lights and sirens... couldnt breathe....

turns out to be pneumonia...

i was 19 btw...

doctor recons if i dont give up smoking straight away ill be dead in five years....

20 years ago that was....:RpS_blink:

I'm no Doc but that sounds very similar to something that i'm suffering from just now. A condition called Costochondritis. It's basically inflammation of the cartilidge between the ribs. It can give you sore ribs and a sharp pain at the side of the breast bone, where the ribs join. I've had it for 4 months or so and i first noticed turning the steering wheel of the van. It also hurts when i lie on my side in bed sometimes. Apparently it's caused by repetitive movement. So plastering fits the bill nicely!!!! Best get to the docs and get it checked. I ended up taking myself to A&E with it, thinking i was having a heart problem!!

thank you for ur replys
i bin signed off for 6 weeks so far with it started a year ago but got to point were dont go to work as much wen feel it coming on cause wood rather not do the job if i no im not gunna be able to give it 100%
but doctors keep palming me off with pain killers and anxitity tablets

It's our line of work, mate. I've pushed it hard for over 20 years and now it's all catching up with me!!! Not many jobs are as repetitive as plastering! Sadly the docs are all quacks! Good for F all, to be honest!!!! I'm going to see a highly regarded Osteopath next week to see if he can help! For what it's worth, Anxiety, stress etc can aggravate pain. So try and chill as much as possible!!!! Take care :RpS_wink:

Fkinell, I've been having chest pains/headaches/ numb arms and been on ECG, blood tests etc over last 3 weeks. Everything come back fine - even went to opticians to see if headaches were caused by my eyesight going, but she said my eyes were excellent for me age. Back at docs yesterday and she said it was probably stress :RpS_crying: I was fkin terrified I was having a stroke - have ya seen them adverts that's on at the minute? :-0

Aye bubbles. STRESS is a very dangerous condition. I've had plenty of it along with a nice dose of anxiety!! I lost the plot in traffic recently and drove half up on the roundabout!!! A wee bit impatient too say the least! I'm now listening to Paul Mckenna CD's and i've upped my medication to 3 wanks per day. It's all in the mind!!! :RpS_wink:

C'mon - answer me -who isn't?:RpS_cursing::RpS_cursing::RpS_cursing:

what exactly do you find on the forum (besides my now inanimate avatar) that gets you in that mood casper? :RpS_blink:

or is it 5 mins of youporn and 10 mins respite on the forum, followed by 5 more mins etc...

its just got to point were sorta panic wen it cums on while driving cause be fine then next me im all weak n feeling dizzy then sets of like full on state i get in
proper aint good only being 25

I did my back in 3 weeks ago, couldnt walk for 3 days. Now 3 weeks later its fine! Until I got a bit of stress in my life and would you believe it,the pain is starting again! It started when after 3 weeks signed on sick I still aint had a penny off em!!!! WTF do I pay NI for??? anyway, yeah stress can cause aches and pains.

i used to go see a physio regularly, good bloke too, worked with the british olympic team...
anyway, crack was i used to get a touch a sciatica, started working on roofs and just continued, got it rendering, then just skimming..
so i'd go see the bloke, he'd stand me up and make me wave my arms about a bit whilst looking at my back muscles (or arse, whichever turns you on :RpS_laugh:)
then he'd put his finger on the exact areas where the pain was, shoulders, middle of back and side of hips etc...
told me flat feet didnt help, and the fact that ive cracked a t11 vertabrae in a motor wreck years ago..
fingernails in the sides of the knees, legs bent all out of shape, knots worked out etc... painful at the time but it eased up in the morning...
gave me a tip about laying on my back with my calves on the settee for half an hour.... that does help...
then i come across this stretching excercise on the net, never had bad sciatica since... and not been back to the physio either..
first sign of the merest twinge, hot bath, 2 beers, 2 ibufrofen and do the stretches in the bath... job done, immediate result...

its all connected, from your heels to the back of your head....

physio told me of a footballer complaining of headaches....

turns out he had an achilles heel problem....

chris i've got about 15 pages of exercises that the chiro give me to sort my back out to save me keep going back things like 'the cat and camel' he can **** off if he things im doing them lol, look like a right t**t.

ive just got the one mate, similar to what you might do before a football match... just more like crossing one leg over the other and pulling your knee towards you, stretches the piriformis muscle.... believe me mate, keep those excersises in a box somewhere cos one day, mark my words, youre gonna wish you'd done em when you were younger...
i reckon i was in my best form around 25 - 29, hit 30 and its all downhill, im 39 now and need a complete refit...
prolly a lot to do with smoking and bad habits etc too but once you get into em...
you dont realise at the time, you think its all gonna get better, and the only thing that does is your ability to be able to spot a f'ckup coming from 10 miles out... other than that is just gets harder and harder...

Aye some people get the "pain" earlier than others. Personally, i never had any pain until i hit the magic 40. So much for life begins............FFS more like the pain begins!!!

BTW bubbles, i was exagerating. It's 3 a week. sometimes lol

on that siatica pain i had it on and off for a year or so bottom of back down my arse into back of thigh.annoying and uncomfortable to say the least cudnt sit or stand still. was in my local english pub in ft lauderdale struggling with it fidgiting away and this fella i kinda knew said to me struggling with yer back mate.told him the symptons and he gave me a number of a chiropractor.he said this guy is old about 80 he s retired but does a few jobs to see him right but hes the best and will sort yer.

i thought what the hell and made an appointment.got there and arrived back in the 1920 s literally.this old boy lied me down pulled this and that checking my vital organs this took 10 mins or so and at the end of it he was happyy i was healthy other than the siatica.told me to quadrupple dose up on vitamin c tablets 3 times a day for no more than 4 days that will sort it if not give him a ring.i never rang him and ive never had it again

seriously? vitamin c? as in orange juice? do you still keep up the recomendation or was it a one off?

gonna get some of them... ill take one a day even if i aint got it if its gonna help, aint gonna get any easier is it?

Very interesting. I take 500mg of vit c every day. I also have started taking pure cod liver oil every day. I swear i feel better for it. Omega 3's are THE ultimate supplement! Then it's Gin! lol

better not be any more than 3 quid a pop an they better have a little mitsubishi symbol on em... :RpS_mellow:
