Just watched newsnight and paxman was giving the energy minister a grilling over the green deal of which 219 houses have been done
 
He said its a 20 year project which is properly true so in the last 6 months of 2032 all the main contractors will be saying this project is 19 and a half years behind schedule you need more men,I want 5000 a week hand overs
 
They have been screwing it royally since day 1

Energy co.s have monopolised it and they dont know what there doing.
Government dont know what there doing either and the targets for properly installed work were unrealistic anyway.

Its not 19 years I read its way way way more if every sw home is to be insulated. But they are back peddling now I see- relaxing the push. Maybe all these millions of ewi trained men ain't needed after all

These ewi trained men are hard up plasterers. Whats going to happen if new build kicks off again? These plasterers are not going to put up with this poorly paid outdoor crap.

Got a joiner turned dry liner ring me up today for any EWI boarders required? Couldn't apply thin coat or top coat just being doing boarding for the last year. What a waste of time.
 
Your right bud, there is 6.6 million s.w houses left to do in u.k, at 30,000 per annum it will take 220 yrs to complete. :RpS_thumbsup: I might have to put off my retirement.........indefinitely.
 
They have trained and nvq lads just on boarding. Kin joke. Trouble is u spelt it out rigs

Ewi acrylic mono etc were all specialised branches of plastering. And rightly so as the skill level is up a notch if you fit to spec that is. You needed to be a good spread before you branched off.

Now Ewi on the funded seems like plasterers who are chances or non skill who have been brought in and given a trowel or SDS drill. And then people moan about workmanship in this country. They cheapened the labour aspect de skilled it by pricing out professionals with the skills and experience but unfortunately a mortgage to pay too and hey presto its a mugs game.

I shouldn't say it but I ain't the only one I hope it goes belly up for the energy co.s

Not sure why the gov are downgrading the funding now but it seems British gas have something to do with it. - maybe they find its not as rosey as they thought. But one thing is true if the other energy co.s who have invested in training and employing men will want compensation off the govt now.

It is the recent gas price hikes. 9% of our bill + vat is paying for this eco and green deal work. Easy for the govt to introduce these measures but everyone in the country is paying even if they don't need it.

Social housing gets it for free but you and me Mr Taxpayer can fund our own while we pay as well for the freeloaders. Cutting back on funding might just reduce the 9% + vat on our bills.

I hope it goes tits up as well!
 
Funding =nothing is free.

You won't keep your 9 percent rigs. They never go back on a price hike. Ever.

Carrilion have apparently dropped 1000 men( boys trainees) because the green deal has not been a success,I doubt very much these 1000 operatives have been on a 3 year apprenticeship.there is going to be another slow down in EWI as the energy companies hold onto their money so they can see exactly what they have to spend.the energy companies are running the show here not the government.cameron needs votes £50 saving for every household he has bent over for them.there is a couple of big jobs out there that have just started have now been put on stop because B G will not return the contracts because they want to see exactly how much money they need to throw at a job,they won't spend if they don't need to
 
Well they have effectively pulled back a third on solid wall measures and concentrated on cheaper methods such as loft and cavity again. BG have been advising the govt on it. They will all have to lay off some men and they will want compo no question.

Your right the energy co.s are running it and dictating what happens some more than others it seems.

end of the day, its a typical government scheme- ill thought out and subject to constant change.

the really annoying part is the render manufactorers have all chased the ewi green deal etc and forgotten about there core client base us ie rendering contractors, I know of at least 2 render reps that have received 100 grand bonuses this year from the pushing of green deal and supply of ewi.
 
Aye and when its all done guess who they will be trying to get onside with again. Yeah. Us.

were looking at a scheme at the moment and its being directly funded by 2020 horizon framework, straight from the EU commission that's kicks off in a few weeks from 2014.

the cohesion cumbria was from EU n all and that was a kin hole of a mare of a job as far as rates went
