I'm having a kitchen plastered. Artex ceiling, and fairly dodgy thermalite walls with old browning plaster. The walls are having a coat of bonding and multi finish. This plasterer has put tape all around the perimiter of the ceilings where they meet the walls. He has told me that this is to help prevent cracking which I have so often seen around the edge of ceilings.

He has also scrimed over conduits in the wall which plaster doesn't seem to stick to very well.

I like this guy because he's so thorough. But is the scrim tape at the edge of the ceiling a good idea?

you always get slight movement in ceilings ie- when you walking about up stairs or banging your lass at nite:RpS_biggrin:
tape em its the norm

wrap him up with rolls and rolls of scrim tape. Hang him upside down. Set light to the tape and watch it burn, melt and drip

Yes scrimming joins is common.... I dont think you can over scrim :-) unless it starts grinning through the finish then its annoying to paint

Good luck :-)

Applying scrim tape to the ceiling & wall edge is part of the job mate.Don't worry so much & let him get on with his job :RpS_thumbup:
