no, arti. i'll persevere until the last four bags run out. if i haven't cracked it then im back with multi and board. i'm not using over artex anymore, though.

by the way, arti, can i go over sovereign renderlite with multi ...:RpS_unsure:

Sovereign will say you can't and try and sell you renderlite finish which is terrible stuff to finish and about £15 a bag. Ive used multi on it a few times hangs but goes ok. Im same as arti use kingfisher renovating plaster as they dontbmind you using multi to finish

Do you ever use any of the bonding agents with grit for Artex Jurek? This would go on better I think but you need to try this if possible.

i certainly do. but only if it's a shiny shiny surface. have a large hall stairs landing to do the week after next where i'll be using the blue grit the day before. could try a small panel with the mp if i have any left.

it was quite warm. it was 22 on his thermostat but i'd turned the heating off in the room i was doing. must have been the artex. maybe like james says you need to use wba or something on it to be on the safe side, whereas i'll mostly use pva with a touch of blue grit mixed in and never had a problem or a callback. used over an artex ceiling before christmas and it went on fine but i had a few blisters but i'm sure that was because i second coated too early. this was a bigger ceiling, 9m by 4m.

The only way to know for sure is to skim over an identical sized ceiling which has had the Betakontakt or bondit applied and the same temperature in the room.

I did a 38 m2 to day on a reskim with mp start to finish was about 4 hours don't no y it was so slow. It was clod in the house so might be that. Was on my Own so had lots of time to clean up and go for my breakfast.

anyone had any staining when using this over artex? went to look at a job for a bloke earlier. i'd gone over an artexed ceiling for him about two months ago and there was a brown mottled effect all over the fcuking ceiling. he said he'd painted it sixteen times and it was still coming through. the finish was bang on. it wasn't the pattern blooming through. he was more than happy which is why he wanted me to do another room. but just this effect. quite embarrasing. told him i'd go over with stain block when i go to do the other job. i did the walls in the same room and they were fine. no idea why ....:RpS_confused:

could it be nicotine stain bleeding through ?

Nothing to do with you buddy, either nicotine stain, or small leak tell him to use acrylic based paint or a stain stop then just a coat of emulsion

I think its because when you did it, you was so pleased with your finish!? That you pleasured yourself and "spurted" everywhere!?? And didn't wipe it off so you've only yourself to blame !! :RpS_laugh:

One has to be careful not to have a wee in the finish depending on what one had to drink or eat the previous evening.

Well said James, drinking far too much beetroot juice does make the said plaster look rather awful !!

thanks guys. i was thinking nicotine. honest. the walls were freshly stripped beforehand and there was no staining on them. sixteen coats, that's what he said. think i woud have been thinking about some king of stain block after two or three .... :rolleyes) nice bloke, though.

my jizz is white, @ marshy, not brown .... :RpS_confused: well, some days it's a kind of creamy colour ...

:RpS_biggrin: Nice one lads. I have used this stuff and it is a okay alternative to multi or board. If there was a shortage of either like a few years back. BUt i don't really see the point if your intention is to put more on. No matter what you put on you still need to trowel it up right. In fact for smaller hits you will be hanging about when with using multi you would already be putting your tools away. It is like soe of the lads I work with sometimes ask me if there is any way they can delay the set or make it hang longer. Really don't get that. Just try for your three sets a day and be happy with that. If you used this gear you would only be putting two slightly larger sets on.

Hi guys

been plastering since I left school for ten years now, I'd say my standard as dropped. But my effort is there.

a few things bothering me are
I remember a wall that I would start a wall and it would take 3 hrs to complete. Now it takes up to 4 hrs any suggestions?

also I'm getting shadows in my work around the edges mainly but also in the middle of my work as if it's not flattened in really annoying now.

the only thing that as changed is I used to mix on the guy and do the bottoms of wall while he did the top now I'm doing jobs on my own as well as mixing and cleaning

any suggestions?

get him back? Is that wat u were going to say lol I wish I could.
