Right mate a bag of finish on a flat wall will do approx 10 m2 less if you've got beads or crappy liners to fill out.

As a rule of thumb what you put on for your first coat use half that amount to lay in your second coat.

At some point you'll get used to gauging it, if not try this formula :

Total m2 divide by 10 gives you your total amount of bags for that gauge.

Divide this by 3 then times by 2.

For example :

Ceiling @ 34 m2 divided by 10 gives you 3.4 bags of finish for total of 2 coats.

Divide 3.4 bags by 3 gives you 1.13 of a bag this is what you need for your second coat.

Times this by 2 will give you 2.26 of a bag this is what you will need for your first coat.

So a Ceiling @ 34 m2 requires 3.4 bags.

1st coat needs 2.26 of a bag.

2nd coat needs 1.13 of a bag.

Obviously you'd round this off but its accurate and saves wastage, if your walls etc arnt flat divide your m2 by 9 this gives you more play.
