Lime putty

Does anyone know the correct mix for base coat before applying lime putty????? cheers...........:RpS_unsure::RpS_unsure::RpS_unsure:

Dont know what you mean lime putty is normaly mixed 3 to 1 with sand to make the morter.

The reason why 3-1 mix is used is because of the angular shape of the sand particles so one gauge of lime putty fills the voids in the mix. Also this is why angular shape sand particles or sharp sand is better for rendering or at least in fist coat on external rendering,

It depends on what you are putting it on, Is it lime stone, blocks, bricks, grannite ETC

its in a old building, on soft brick, no dpc, so suffers from moisture problems.

You put an NHL lime plaster floated coat on and then skim it with lime putty.
