Hi guys
i've got a old stone gable end to render, all existing render as been taken and its needing three coats,
i'm using lime in the mix but not sure if i should add any waterproofer & plasticiser as well.
any help please.
THANKS

Well dave if me I would only use lime , so what lime are you going to be useing, ?

Hi Henry,
the builder is supplying the materials but i'm pretty sure he's got hydrated.
the client insists he wants all 3 coats 8.1.1 but i think i'll do first 2 coats 6.1.1.
any thoughts.
cheers

To be honest mate I would have thought you would have been better with a hydraulic lime 3.5. If your having to do what the builder says the lime should make the mix ok to spread. But he is not really lime rendering it's cement rendering because cement is hydraulic hydrated lime is not . So hence the set will be from the cement not the lime.

Keep some feb incase but if you're going down to 8-1 I'd be tempted to do 8-1-2 the extra lime should help cream it up
