Call me old fashioned, yep I'm an old git, but do the swear words need to be used when posting on the forum? Find it difficult when my 6 year old daughter is looking at the computer with me to explain what some of the words mean.
 
Maybe we do curse a bit toooo much but I don't think we need to stop really,I think its good to express yourself how you want.

This isnt a family forum and isnt meant to be read by children !!.

I know its not familt entertainment but my desktop is in the room where the kids are. Expression doesn't mean that we have to swear IMHO
 
Yeah we dont have to swear but it is a big part of site life etc etc etc, there is no way you or I or anybody else can stop it so if its causing a problem then maybe only look at the forum after the kids go to bed !!??.

Yeah you are an old git but so am i ive just been told of on another site for swearing by saying dick head which in the Oxford English dictionary comes from clever Dick which isnt swearing and for being racist by suggesting that a certain Polish builder might be crap well considering ime half Ukrainaian and half Irish i had to laugh.No keep this forum as it is and use the security available to stop your kids having access. gary's got a point, forget the kids and stuff.. the 'forum rules' state 'no swearing' somewhere..
besides garys been a member for ages, and when he's on makes a lot of very valuable contributions...
yes were all plasterers and ill be the first to admit that my 'language' on here has been getting steadily worse...
all im sayin is its not difficult to tone it down a bit lads... these days it seems every other word is 'fecking' or 'bollox' the forum 'swear catcher' can easily be adjusted to include these little 'get rounds' its only a quick edit in the admin section..
so, personally ill make a bit of an effort from now on.. i can see garys point..

on the old yabb boards i could get in to the filter section and adjust things like that but on this new board i think the only person who can do all that is danny...
still, i wonder how imaginative we can get once we put our minds to it..

I beleive that this is one of the maain reasons i have not posterd on this this forum as much as i care too Du to the obscenitis and atroscus spelin and gramer , i blaime those soothern chaps alwaiys sweerin and shoking speleers, all southaneers shud be banned

actually ive just looked at his last post and under his name it says 'guest'..
sad day for anyone wanting to do an nvq level 2 or 3 cos gary teaches the qual.. got trowels older than some people on here too..
youre always welcome on here gary..
 
The thing is it says plasterers forum at the top of the page so what do people expect, Does he allow his daughter to look at every site he goes on on the web (i don't think so) it is not a site for children so why let them look , can't understand the problem just don't let em look , same as you would not let them view porn or other graphic sites, films etc etc

Anyway I think if Gary has gone because of the swearing its a bit sad but I also think that he is a bit sad .... I mean if I didnt want to be near or work on a site where people swore I would be out of a job ..... come on Gary be realistic mate !!!.

And another thing. You should not be able to post on here unless you sign up to the site, and leave your phone No , a pic of yourself , your wife and how much you earn a week, that way it will cut down on the amount of questions that Oasis keeps askin every body ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

i work 4 my self on my won allday i got questions all the time ya no like :-If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happen if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?

yeh i know, swearings everywhere at the minute..
its just that it has been gettin a bit much recently and other people do look at the site.. not just full time plasterers.. a little bit here and there is to be expected in any walk of life..
im probably the worst one for it anyway..
anyway im givin it up for lent..
and be careful what you type people cos the old filter will be working overtime ;)
 
p.s. did i mention that i actually got thrown out of the local pub about a month ago for teaching a foreign bloke how to swear like a builder? true... ::)
