inside a fire

Whats the best mix for inside a fire place where theres going to be a log burner
its thermolite blocks, is 6-1-1 scl right and is it best to not skim it. thanks in advance

bg plaster will not withold the temp of the log burner,
sand cement and lime or a lie and sand render.
of you can use a vitcas plaster which is mades for such areas

You don't really want to be any stronger than 6:1 on thermalites.

I would be tempted to screw some riblathe onto the therms, scratch then top slightly weaker. Maybe some fibres.
