i have just skimmed out a wall that was boarded , took my time two coated it but as its drying out it has gone the dark colour but with small patches of beige wich feel really rough i have used little water . what is happening . why is it so hard six years of plastering and its not happening ??? ???

you mean its gone off rapid quick? this sounds like the boards have they been installed recently or have they been on the wall some time?

it the boards have been on ages the paper dries out and loses its oil its more like skimmin direcly onto the gypsum chalk underneath.

No offence but it sounds to me like you ve missed parts when polishing up.

I agree with bruce hollow points filled with fat from your trowel or not filled at all!

This does sound like the most likely cause.
