Hi guys, as the name suggests im an essexboy presently living in ireland.
Im currently trying to get some more expierience in plastering afterrdoing
an intensive plastering course on friday. I didnt learn rendering because it was
snowing heavily. Hoping to pick u guyds brains and have some fun along the way
 
Hi mate, presume you must be in northern ireland. No I did the course on friday, got my first job on
for next week, loving it but early days yet
 
yes, been thinking of doing it for months but couldnt get into the fire brigade (bad knee)
so finally took the plunge

i couldnt afford the 5 day course so i did an intensive one day course
 
mate i cant get an apprenticship (outdated anyways) so i HAD to do the intensive course. Its 150 euro to work with the plasterer for the day but you can use his labourer or you can pay 20 a day to labour to see how its done. Im gonna spend 100 on labouring when i get paid from the private job

I did a course but mine was a bit longer than yours
it was a weekend course lol.
But it's not easy getting work over here at the mo mate,
I'm only working for friends & family at the mo,
luckily I have a big family lol.
How much can you earn in Ireland?
Is the money better over there for plasterin?

everyone says its quiet here but i got one job where the other plasterer wanted 350 euro for 1 day!!!!!! Me and my girlfriend went to dublin last night and were part of a tv audience which daniel o donnell the singer was on (i know hes shite lol) my g/friend comes from the same place in ireland as him and when i mentioned i was a plasterer he said he has a house about 12 miles from where we live that needs plastering, really nice guy. Im hoping to get into that kind of circle of work were money is no object. Fingeres crossed

Yeah that's a good idea mate.
You don't want cracks appearing after you've done the job.

Have you got a van yet?
I've got an escort van but needs a new clutch & failed mot :(
Wouldn't mind a van like oasis, maybe one day ay!

yeh, dont wanna teak any chances with this one but im a bit worried about me mate taking over the job (hes a lot older than me so they might think hes the boss) hes got an exsellent labourer tho. my girlfriends got 1yr old fiesta so cant use that but i will deffo have to get a van asap.prob will be a second hand one for now. havnt deffo got the job yet, need to go and price it up first

I wouldn't buy a van yet then mate!!
Be careful you don't wanna be in debt before you start!
I got my van off eBay so I could store all my new tools in it,
but needs some money spending on it now. :(..
 
i gotta good chance of getting the job cos im a bit of a salesman but i deffo wont buy a van till im a bit more established. what with xmas (winterval in birmingham lol) comig up etc it prob wont be till febuary at least
