Hello, Why do i get Vertical line marks in my plaster.

Hey Guys. What causes vertical line marks in plaster. I plastered 2 bedrooms last week and they both come out pretty good well i thought. The plastered walls dried out, I then painted both rooms white. I still thought they looked very nice. I was very please with myself as ive only been plastering for a few months.
But today the the Sun come out and appeared on the walls and i can notice long vertical dents in the plaster. When the sun goes down the walls look absolutely perfect. So now im a bit anoid with myself as im not happy with the job ive done.

I do 2 coats of plaster. 1st coat thinker than the 2nd coat. When flattening down - finishing off. I Trowel horizontal with 2 wet coat and a dry Trowel.

I did the exact same thing in my first house! Noticed the light in the bedroom shining across the wall in the morning either side of my curtains. And I was solely using steel MT at the time.

Make sure you’re not laying on when pva is still a bit wet

Don’t trowel off before the plaster is ready. This gives you tiger stripes

I always finish walls taking my trowel horizontally.

Don’t lay on too thick and certainly don’t lay down a thick second coat

I would add that plastering just takes time to learn and get right. Just keep going. It’s all in the background and your timings
