Hairline crack nightmare

Hi all,

Very new here to the forum and plastering. Took a short course to help with the 1965 house I just bought. House was old prison officer house and walls are THICK.

Took all the wallpaper off in three rooms and hairline cracks over all the walls. Not in small sections, the whole wall, in every room. Most cracks look like a pencil line, but all are quite small.

No hollow sounds, actually very solid in every room.

Do I Stanley knife, fill, sand & paint?

Or other?

Any suggestions appreciated

As above,

Short course in what?

Short course in what?
Yeah, I know. Defo not a plasterer, but keen to learn more.

We learnt:

-patching techniques & how to repair a patch
- rendered wall will then be prepared to accept a skim finish using a float

-prepare your plasterboard wall & ceiling
-skimmed using PVA
-apply a 2 coat skim finish to a wall

What we didn’t learn was when the whole wall needs repairing. Can repair a crack no problem, but wondering if a different technique would be best? (Ie mesh over the wall?)

Buy rolls or mesh. Skim and cover walls with mesh.
Probably sand and cement over blocks then skimmed.
Movement causes the sand and cement to shatter.
