Has anyone got any info or advice on using haired lime mortar and lime plaster? I've got a job on for a repeat customer whose bought a large detached 1850's house and the internal walls are addled and need re doing. They want it done in traditional materials to keep it right.

The render has been bodged too in sand and cement which is riddled with cracks. That'll be done in spring.

Thanks forum folk

The best render in my opinion. I will recommend 3 coats for flat and smooth finish. quick search led me To this site. HTH

2.5/1 washed sharp sand /lime NHL 2 limeco hyperlime 2 is good

Fibres. Don't bother with goat hair they'll send you dizzy whilst teasing them into the mixer I just use the 20 mm concrete fibres they're just as good
Floating coat same mix but knock a sharp out and replace with silica knock the big fibres out cos they'll fur up when your devilling
Mix skim 1:1 moist silica sand to lime
Happy days

If you have a machine use baumit lime range.
The backing coats can be sprayed with mesh used instead of hair
Materials are dear but you can get more done

I'll look into that Bobby cheers. Some of it is patching though so mesh wouldn't necessarily work.
