But if you are labouring then you will learn how to be a labourer. If it is plastering you want to learn then you won't, you will be too busy labouring to learn. Now if you learn how to labour for free and then stop labouring and offer to learn how to plaster for free then it might become worth your while. But there will become a stage when you are starting to earn your keep so the free might have to be re-negotiated.
