found a lot of money

1977 i found a wallet belonging to an australian tourist, cash/passport/bankcards etc all in this wallet, handed it in at police station, got a letter next day, tourist had claimed it within the hour,

i never got a thank you, nothing, nothing at all,
That's because they don't tell you who handed it back in. Thinks it makes them look good and doesn't drop any of their mates in it if they've snaffled a note or two.
Remember my mother got pick pocketed X,mas shopping with us kids. years ago, when it was worse. She got the purse back but no cash, within the hour, but no info on who did the nice thing - but the theatre tickets were still in it, so we got to go.
Sammy Davis Junior was the star but he cancelled, as he was too upset because his mate JFK had just been shot. Told you it was years ago!

I’d have handed the purse back mate. No fun when you misplace your wallet and the stress involved.

Bag of cash…tough one, but I’d probably have kept quiet. Cash in a bag tells many stories tbf. You could always ease the conscious by making a partial donation to whatever you deem to be a just cause and tbh, that could do more good than the owner getting it back and the finder pocketing the difference.

Difficult when we’re called upon to step up ain’t it
Very true and well put there , I'd have just kept it, as in ........................ I just would have mate ! (y)
Friday tomorrow !!!!!! :)
believe me we did talk about keeping it , but the problem is if we had kept it i would just be thinking every single day that the scrapman would come knocking on my door, having remembered about his stash in the attic and asking for it back, that of course opens up a whole new set of problems, so just decided that its for the best and a clear conscience to return it.
dont regret it , but we were a tad dissapointed with his idea of reward money, and i am being polite there,
and to rub salt into the wounds, when he gave us our reward money, he turned his back on us and pulled out a wedge of approx 2,000 from his pocket , and counted out our reward money.

But why do you think you had the right to take it from someone's property and give it to the previous owner? I've got to say I'm a bit baffled mate.

A tenner each?
What a tight arse b*****d!

I’m sorry but that would have gone straight in my sky rocket mate.
As stewie said - it’s a dog eat dog world.

What did mrs hector say about it?
Where’s your morals, your integrity, man?

the whole situation is a moral dilemna andy, keep it/hand it back/tell new owner,
we went in our opinion to hand it back to its rightfull original owner,
but good point,

If it was a stack of vintage prn mags would you have took them to his house?
You know monkey, that actually was a a thing !
As a boy me and my pals would scramble around the woods on our bikes in all weathers. I swear that we found many, many dumped poly bags of wank mags. Guilt ridden bags of soggy slimy porn that we feasted our young eyes on, in those days !
Unfortunately, now, those days are well gone.
F*****g loved that bike too ! :)

But you’ve still got the soggy stuck together pages of them stuffed under your mattress mate.

Always nice to look back

Ah the memories
