where did it all go wrong???..........on site the lads are earning 175 per flat and are doing one in three hours at rock bottom prices? ......wish i didnt learn harder at school wish i got into fookin screeding :o

3 hours? im guessing its ready mix labour only?
i reckon the new flo-screed will take over eventually...

he reckons he did 600 metres on the flo screed .......doubt it'll be less than a pound per sqm

suppose it depends on where you are on the ladder mate..
all i know is it gets pumped in, tamped about a bit and left...
if your the guy with the welly's on the tamp it aint gonna be that good but if your the guy supply and install on a main contractor basis i bet the moneys fantastic..

it is mate at 4 quid .......they get 6 sometimes and you havent got to lay it on and float it etc .........take heed newbies ;)

is it working like k-rend then? supply and fix, use your own machine etc or does the company organise the material and pump and get subbies in labour only to lay it..? or a bit of both? do a flo screed course... organise the concrete company to deliver a pump full of screed and just turn up with a few tamps and a couple of monkeys?

There allways has been good money in screeding and there should be it bloody hard work ,and you will need a few quid cause them mobility scooters are not cheap ;D

this time last year i was working with a 68 yr old screeder. came over from ireland 50yrs ago laying screed, he was fitter than me! we were on £6 a mtr lab only

£175 per flat, my guess is that the flat will be about 35m.sq. at 65mm thick I would do one of these in about 3.5 to 4 hours without killing myself with no labourer. IMO screeding is only hard work if you are trying to eat the metres (most screeders look to do 100m.sq. per day) which is just the same if you are external rendering, skimming or rendering inside with s&c and chasing the buck. The nice things about screeding are that you don't get many problems caused by other trades (unlike plastering) and you don't have many tools to carry about (definitely unlike plastering).

too right mate there always gone by 2 aswell ..........why is the money so rubbish in plastering knowadays?

Is the money really that bad spunky, take two rooms 3m.x 3m.x 2.4m.= 28.8m.sq. x 2= 57.6m.sq.@ £3 per m.sq. to skim that's £172.80, now any plasterer worth his salt will be able to get them done in a nice early day (I as I'm sure a lot of you can would do three rooms that size a day), so I don't think the money is that bad. Getting the work in the first place seems to be the problem for most at the moment, but if you do a good job and you only approach firms that can tell the difference between good and bad then I find that they are still happy to pay reasonable money.

there aint many dry lining firms paying £3.mtr at the min tho andy im hearing £2-£2.50 i heard BDL were paying £1.80 on a job a coupl eof months back, horburys dont pay buy the square anymore its all block prices but lads i know say when u measure up its about £2/mtr, i consider good money 800+ take home so u need to be doing 100sq every day even friday and noone likes long fridays ;D to be taking that home and i know its possible because its what i do when im on site but ur pulling your arse off for it sometimes

I know where your coming from napper, I haven't worked for other plastering firms for a long time for that very reason, but I'll tell I wouldn't have the nerve to ask the lads that work for me to do a good job for those rates!
I wouldn't say pay peanuts get monkeys but pay peanuts get lads that will plaster like monkeys because they don't have a choice (bills need paying).
I just hope firms paying k-rap money get all the problems they deserve >:( >:( >:(
