You've got to keep wooden floats damp.
Emir are good poly floats. I screed with them to wear them in it doesn't take too long

Polyurethane floats are always hardwork until they wear in, you could try a hardwall float from refina,

i have just looked at these refina floats,they could be well worth a go:RpS_thumbup:

I use a wood float on my stucco brown coats and I couldn't have matched a certain texture on the exterior of a fine old mansion that I've helped maintain for 25 years, without my carpet float.
