Exterior pva

When is it acceptable to use exterior pva If at all. instead of sbr
Ive been asked to price a job rendering red brick that have a good key
ie: swirly etched type bricks and was thinking of using pva instead of sbr any help much appreciated

It's not mate totally different i would only use eva for suction control as for inside work sbr is more a bonding agent with cement added

Are you wanting to create a key or just control the suction??

Want to put scratch coat on red etched type bricks but wasnt sure if exterior type pva or sbr was needed as I read somwhere water would be enough But just not sure if it is

I always knock up and SBR slurry and brush it on before i scratch. but im sure other people would just hose it down and fire on the scratch. If the bricks have rough faces for a key then you should be ok marra

If your worried about suction, just wet the wall down and get rendering.
