hi im ganna be taking on a job that had a lil damp last year..only the living room ..walls are bubbling ect..
so my plan was 2 hack off 1 meter high all round and then water proof S&C coat then toop up with bonding ..then skim the hole wall...im useing bonding cuz i have v.lil experince with S&C ..

the woman has asked me wot guarantee can i give that the damp will not come back threw?]

im not sure wot to say as im only useing waterproofer ..just like most people have done on damp jobs in Gloucestershire..

i no if i used that white or gray stuff i could give a guaratee as it is makde for damp and would say on the bag..

but the warterproofer is not reali made for damp but would do the job fine surly?

i dont think u can give any guarantee, they wanna get the bloomin leak sorted first (if its a leak), s+c with waterproof like u said sounds ok, dont guarantee nothing mate cause the leak was there b4 u and will be there after u, if its rising damp then the whole maybe hav to come off? u didn explain the whole situation :-/

thats bang on mate, the only way you could give guarantees is if you a) were a registered dp company/specialist using trained installers b) surveyed, diagnosed, carried out solution as recommended by chemical company, even then they only guarantee the chemicals, not the installation..
and if a guarantee isnt insurance backed it aint worth shite anyway...

Bondings a no no !! if you need to use a bagged backing coat there a few to choose from with damp work.

sorri .. it got wet up the falls from last years floods..so no more water will be comin in...

the bonding was just a top coat for over the s&C as iv not had much exp with S&C i only wanna use it as a scrach coat..

i put a scrach coat on a new extetion the other day..and had 2 re do it as i did it way to thin like skim! lol
so im not to confident of S&C but i am a good skimmer ..backin is not me strong point..
mind you no 1 has ever showen me!

also ..do u think doing a weeknd course in S&C rendring would be worth while...?
or is it sumit i will pick up soon?
iv never had 2 back a hole wall out be for either...so i only ever do patchs were and edge will reach both sides..

thanks 4 the help im doin the job in 2 weeks paid for on the insurance..the woman wants the guareantee so when she sells the house she can say its ok..

just dnt no wot to tell her?
