Cracking in different directions

Hi all,

I had my kitchen extension plastered in June/July last year (really hot summer)

The wall had like an eggshell crazing on it before it was plaster (I thought it was paint drying effect)

Behind the wall is an inch or two gap then the old external brick wall (wall is in the extension built 2008)

Anyway few months later I vertical crack appeared that opened and closed depending if heating was on!

Now fast forward to now the plaster is hairline cracking in a random directions maybe due to it getting about 10 degrees warmer in a week here up in Scotland

My questions is how to I fix it?

The plastering on that RSJ opening makes me feel ill.
As for the cracks, what I would do is run the side of a Stanley knife along the crack to make it wider, then fill with good quality filler, sand and repaint. That's just what I do in my own house though, don't know if there's a better option
