Skirting boards going there. I always make sure it's flat as that's all it needs to be.

We always do our best to buy boards in that suit the storey height and only have vertical joints. As far as I'm aware this has always been the correct spec, not that I'm saying that it makes any difference, but it's what we stick to.

Last year we had a job where we had packs of board in 2.4, 2.5, 2.7 and 3m. All in one house. Admittedly that was almost entirely direct bond though not stud.
We're using 2.5's on our current job.

Any particular reason?

I mainly use 6x3s as on domestics, don't often get new work to go over, if and when I can get 8x4s in and spacings right I will go vertical though!
