Had a proper vile bathroom to skim today.

Same old shite, everything is ready just needs a coat of skim ready for the tiler.

Got there and guess what, old tile adhesive left on there , holes in the original plaster it was pretty bad.

I looked at it and thought hmmmmm I really dont want to be here all day.

Thought what I could do, bonding with a little cement sprung to mind but then I had a better thought.

Bring on the @zombie magic mix!

Coated all the walls first coat with the stuff then second coated with skim. Troweled up and pissed off. Was in the cafe at 12.30 having a breakfast.

Just what I needed on a Monday!!

Yeah thanks @zombie from me too. I always have this sort of crap to sort out and used to do it with just multi. Adding bonding has definitely made it easier. Weirdly tried multi in bonding but not the other way round.

I had a decent sized artex ceiling to do a few weeks ago and gave it my first try. Im an all or nothing type of guy though so did half a bag of bonding in two bags of skim for the first coat. Built up great

Yea 4 heaped trowels of bonding to three quarters of a bag of multi.

Usually I do about 2/3 to a bag of multi (as per @zombie guidelines) but today I was feeling ambitious and naughty

Haha I hope your customers don't see this vince

Magic first time last week, used half bonding though over fan artex, let the first coat go off bit longer than normal, nice and dark, second multi held off beautifully and was great finish, no need for third coat, great tip, thanks.

Used a zombie mix today over 1 artex ceiling and another painted one with a great hump in it. 1st one needed two coats of "6 bucket trowel zombie mix", and then after flattening with the 4' speedskim, a nice creamy coat of multi, the 2nd got a thick coat of "zombiemix", more normal, but just a one-coat! Turned out great, speedskims made it easier, long one got it nice and flat. Used a plaziflex on the one-coat, finished quick and nice.
