Budget self employed tax hike

The people employed can't be kept on being hammered by increases so the burden will fall to the self employed end of day I thought a socialist was about distribution of wealth amongst all and everyone being equal so sort of shot yourself in the foot by having a rant why should you pay less ni than a nurse?

If you pay more into a system than self employed shouldn't you be entitled to a holiday with pay? Most paye employees don't have the earning potential of a self employed person if I wanna earn more I will do an extra hit a day but many are salaried in, my mrs is paye and its criminal what she has to pay out of her wages but that's the path she took and many are in same boat

This isn't about the money, I think we should all pay more tax, I would happily pay it and up nurses wages and care workers (not coppers). It's a fairness issue. Like many on here I sweat blood in the day and then paperwork and quotes in the Eve/weekends. I drive past football 5 side pitches on way home thinking I wish I could go out in the evening and play, no chance, don't have time. In our game there's a ceiling on how much we can earn due to hours and it's the white van man that's been hit. I had to take a bit of time off due to kidney stones few years back. Couldn't be arsed to claim anything.wife badgered me until I eventually did. Wow, the bureaucracy, what a mess, was due about £200 , got £17. Watch I Daniel Blake.

Exactly my point pagey- a decision we made when we looked into the pros and cons. Self employed is exposed more to the risk of losing job and stay at home with no income , you can be shifted and not get paid etc. The government has no obligations to you. at all

Mate we are all in same boat like I've said before I decided a year ago to stop my weekend work as kids and Mrs never got to see me and the money I earned was taxed and end of year normally got a bill as well I think we are what is classed as middle of the road people we ain't so rich we can avoid paying a genuine share and we ain't so poor they got no chance of getting it so people like us get it every time I filled the van up the other day I didn't take much notice until it clicked and was 97 quid its things like this that make all the difference and nothing we can do to change it as most MPs haven't lived hand to mouth or faced what we have over the years only way is to push prices up I see other day hardwall is almost 10 a bag and finish nearly 6 so that has to be passed on and as for benefits if you don't know someone who knows all the tricks you ain't got a chance (for the record my sister is. Midwife and does long hours for what I call not very much)

Defo mate and we all know how many plastering contractors keep people on as subbies and for well over the allowed time many a time in past I've had the chat with the governor of these firms saying oh I'm being investigated and the accountant has said you have worked here for so long you should be an employee (at times when work was slow I basically went on day work as I was with firm for so long) the government miss out on employers ni on top of what would be paid if we was paye

Since downturn, many people were forced into self employment just to get an income.they had no choice. I chose it, I'm lucky. As for people like your wife and nurses, carers etc they should all be getting half their salary again on top of way they earn. Carers that looked after old lady we next of kin for get treated like s**t. The old lady died recently. The carer that put herself out the most wasn't in the will but we decided she should get £10k and I can't wait to give her the cheque, she doesn't know anything about it yet, is getting married but can't afford a honeymoon. Makes my fuxking blood boil. Osbourne 13k per day.

Just 2 weeks ago I had an insurance job in a care home for people that basically had a pulse and could nothing for themselves got talking to lady who was manager of the home and she said the care they get is 8k a month the people who look after them are on minimum wage and I really felt for them these people had been deserted by their families and rely solely on these carers and I asked about what happens at Xmas she said oh we have a day like anyone else but unfortunately they don't even realise what day of week it is as you know I'm more centre right than I am left but when I hear the cuts to social care and that there isn't funds available to keep up with the caring for the elderly or these disabled people makes my blood boil good on you for giving that money away you will be well thought of I will admit it's a job I would never be able to do so hats off to anyone that does it

Most self employed people had to become self employed after loosing their jobs and the government has failed to find them new ones . Those will be hit hardest as they are on the border line and if less than £1000 is not much for some, for them that will be harsh. If it was so great everyone would have gone for self employed, but the risk, the uncertainty and the style of life is not for the majority. In short , the benefits are greater if you are employee and this tax rise won't fix anything. The government needs every penny for the next 3 years and this is the most obvious choice with which they can get away easy . The self employment was instrument for governments to mask the unemployment in the country and now they don't care because greater wave of unemployment is coming and even becoming self employed won't help them much . Calculated risk .

A risk that they couldn't take anymore and we both know a few pence a week will not make a difference to many will it when I get old I wanna know that I've paid enough into system to know I will be looked after well,my mother in law who is 61 has just been told if she carries on working her pension will be less after paying in for 40 odd years it ain't fair as she loves her job she been told to retire now and then go back part time just so she gets her due worth and then we get people who haven't paid into system getting better care than she will ever receive system is bollox and us workers are the ones who suffer coz we have pride in wanting to work

Thing is a lot of self employed people actually work for companies don't they so technically are employees as they don't freelance but don't get the benefits

Taxes would go up so I doubt that will work out!!

It doesn't matter you will still pay your taxes and holiday and sick absences etc . It's YOU! It's a business model that has been approved with all pros and cons for both employee and self employed. Getting your hands on it, even after you promised not to, shows only desperation. Desperation how to fill the big deficit in the budget, because I don't see how this alone , considering the percentage of self employed in this country , can do it and that won't be the end of it.

Did make me laugh today though see a black cab driver being interviewed about it now I've met a few black cab drivers and everyone of them pleads poverty but have a good house decent clothes but are always skint apparently

After my apprenticeship I left the domestic market and went on a firm well a bloke who had just started out on his own doing sites his brother loaned him 10k to get started and his brother had good contacts with contractors so he won the work there was 4 of us to start off with and a few spreads he met over the years doing a few units for him he is now a millionaire but anyway I worked for him for 8 years on day work but I was always in work only on 80 a day then just before I left I was on 120 a day until recession hit and all funding for schools and hospitals got pulled and he laid us all off and kept the polish and Romanians on as they was all on 60 a day he even laid off one bloke who he had worked with for 20 years so shows no loyalty when self employed I hear now he pays no more than 110 a day but always has takers he is a decent man and did help me out loads and learnt a lot off him and his gang and suppose was what he had to do but I could never work for him now and I don't think he would have me back some are happy to plod along some of us are always thinking what can I earn this week and say we earn a grand we will think it ain't enough and go for 1200 it's all depends on how your mentality is

As I said before self employment is a tool to mask and control the unemployment numbers .
Your correct self employed don't get taken Into account when they do these studies even if you ain't working self employed counts as your in work

Exactly ;). Wonder only when the government will come forward with the truth.
