Started using blue grit on a job today and it was making the paint peel off , it was on a newish house well 20-30 year old been skimmed didnt seem to have had a mist coat of paint any ideas ?? Havnt used the stuff before part from abit that had already been dun by sum one else

Had this before. If the walls ain't been mist coated the new paint just sits on the wall and is not properly bonded cos it doesn't 'soak' into the wall. U can literally peel the paint off with a paper scraper. Surprising how many 'decorators ' (lol) don't understand this

Thought that would be the reason , aye no mist coat jus peels off and skim behind it unpainted , probz one coat paint or something stupid

Mist coat is applied with vinyl free contract matt emulsion, can even be applied before fresh plaster has fully dried as it allows any moisture to travel through and out of the paint work
