Blow ceiling plaster different thicknesses

Majority you can tell.a while ago was doing a little bedroom and pva went on then 10mins later started de laminating so politely told the customer sorry luv but its going to cost another £120 as I need to re board it..a good plasterer can tell,there's obviously the odd horror story of it failing but aint heard of many

When people say it wasn't pva,d. If you skimmed artex without pva it would go off so quick you'd never finish it

re: 'overboarding: having now looked up what that is; it seems that you attach the boards to the joists. Don't think this has joists, as it has concrete floors, and this probably means concrete ceilings too.

Also when sparks run wire through a thin channel theyve cut in the boards rather than go up and through joists.
Nearly got a bloody shock patching a ceiling

OK, further investigation has show that the fibre glass mesh tape has come away from the wall/ceilng joint. It was a breeze block wall as the partition seperated a bedroom and a kitchen. They must have boarded over that and used the mesh on the the board but straight onto the artex ceiling.
