5:1 pva then 3:1 pva, if you don't prime with a weak mix first it's likely to pull in far to fast and will probably craze.get plenty of the 5:1 on and it should be fine.
 
cheers, I usually give it a couple of coats of pva havn't had any problems, however only done it a few times. was thinking a primer or bonding agent?
 
do you ever use a primer bonding agent mate?
I do occasionally but I prefer the pva method over high suction backgrounds,someone else who uses ba and pre grits more often may be able to give some more useful info.:RpS_thumbup:
 
As a rule I always give plenty of 5.1 Pva to penetrate the background first, then a thin skin coat of bonding first rule off, let that pull in give one coat of pva and skim same day. It will never craze.
