I patched a wee external corner in a bedroom this evening with multi, (filled in with bonding the other day). When I went to trowel it up, the smell of ammonia was wild. What caused that?

Your the man, yes damaged was caused from leaking chimney. They took it down years ago and tiled over, but now have a stove fitted and I just patched up where it was leaking..

It's a chemical reaction when the soot gets wet
