I think you'd be better building it in concrete blocks keep buying them cheap on marketplace after people have over orderd! Materials won't never come down now!! Economy will crash first!!!

Check the price and availability of straw bales, don't think they are cheap and I thjink you have to have the right moisure content which means storage and/or multiple deliveries

Yup I already have that sorted. Local farmer I know has them and wil store till/if I need

Waiting on the architect to essentially make the decision for us...

Don't ever, ever, EVER let the architect decide f**k all. Tell them what you want.
99% of them are useless T***s, on a good day.

haha yup!

Its basically to tell us how wide we can go and what not...

I really have no ambition with this house so literally just paying people to deal with all of it now

The architect is leaning on us to not use straw... says that when we go to sell the property the garden building will become a bit of a liability and could cause problems...

I leaning towards brick and block now... which frankly is a bit dull

Bollx. Refer to Essex Andy's comment. Architect taking safest line for them because he/she does not know or want to learn. Why or how would a garden building become a liability? It'll catch fire? need maintenance? A green building might actually be a selling advantage in this day and age.
Suggest you find a different one to handle the outbuilding(s) as they clearly do'nt want the work. Suggest also you check for specialist insurers and talk to them about any potential problems, and estate agents about value and selling - local guys might suddenly get frit if they think you might go somewherre else to sell in a few years time.
