If its falling down he simply hasn't done it right. I would be concerned about the rest. Where are you based? Chances are he's used as said dry wall adhesive which doesn't work and no screws.

I use a mitre box.
2 peices of ply screwed together a 90. Cornice sits on..roofers rafter on cornice and cut. Boom. 45.
