Hi,

I'm upgrading the barrier between workshop (below) and the flat above - at the moment there is just 12.5mm plaster board. To meet fire regs (60 min barrier) i've been advised that an additional 13mm coat of lighweight plaster over metal lath fixed to the joists would be fine. Ceiling is 5m x 10m

Is this a tough job to do and am i likely to have expansion problems? Would univeral one coat be okay (the specs for one coat suggest 15mm is possible). Or would it be easier to lay two sheets of fire resistant board (staggered)?

The only other issue is that the ceiling height is 13ft high - is that too high for stilts?

Thanks

You could overboard (staggered) using 15mm gyproc fireline, they do a 15mm as well as the 12.5mm.
We did a very large garage ceiling this year using 15mm fireline, 32no 8' x 4's x 2.......64 sheets and are arms were screaming at the end of the day!! lol

Ive done similar to time served, use the 15mm board. great fun to use. 13ft should be fine off a crate :RpS_wink:
