Thanks everyone - I'll board over.
There is a small curved part (It's under a stairwell), so would some sort of bonding be best there - to 'join' the boarded areas?
Cheers
Hi
I have a small ceiling to plaster and there are a few cracks (see attached pic).
Would normal scrim tape be suitable, or should I go for that 'scrim matting' I've heard about?
If so, does it have a proper name other than 'scrim matting'?
Cheers
Hi everyone
I've 'acquired' a small house in northern France.
I recently skimmed a small hall landing and was surprised at how quickly the plaster went off - we're talking minutes here and I had to sponge float it back to life!
The same plaster can be found on all the ceilings and due to me...
Hi
My original post was this a few weeks ago:
=======================================
I skimmed the window reveals in my bathroom (North facing) yesterday and noticed that cracks appeared in the 2nd coat multi-finish plaster as it was drying - these were quite big and even though I troweled...
Thanks for the feedback guys - It was Wickes PVA and although I have used it a few times before, I have never come across this problem.
Anyway, I reskimmed and all is looking good now.
FYI - I did the first coat when the PVA was tacky (not wet) and the surface was that grey stuff (previously...
Hello again
I skimmed the window reveals in my bathroom (North facing) yesterday and noticed that cracks appeared in the 2nd coat multi-finish plaster as it was drying - these were quite big and even though I troweled them out, they did reappear later.
I took a look this morning and the cracks...
Hi
I will be attempting a 'back to flat' in my bathroom.
The old Artex is not very deep, but has been recently painted (2010) with vinyl paint.
In this instance, will WBA be the right choice, or should I use PVA?
Thanks in advance
Hi
I'm putting up some coving this weekend and I have a bag of Thistle Drywall Adhesive doing nothing (It's unopened and 'in life').
- Is there any reason why I can't use this to fix the the (Knauf Plaster) coving? - Or should I buy the proper stuff?
Thanks in advance.
Hi DannyMac - No - the ceiling is not papered.
I would prefer not to remove the ceiling as I know what a mare of a job that can be - Although a pal of mine suggested to hack out a ^ shape (Inverted V) along the cracks, fill them and then skim - Sounds too easy and I'd imagine that the cracks...
Thanks for the responses - I should have said that there is a rather nice cornice that we want to keep, would over boarding take the ceiling 'too low'? If so, what else could be done?
Thanks again.

Hi
Attached below are pics of my ceiling with a few cracks - What would be the best way of dealing with these before having the ceiling skimmed?
Thanks in advance
