I'm not gonna skim round the fittings.. f**k that.. Was just leaving the toilet in place until I was ready to board and skim.. Changing to toilet anyway so it's gotta come out at some point.. Just trying to keep the other half happy in the whole process
I understand where your coming from, it will be out by the time I come to board it anyway, hoping to get it boarded tomorrow providing I can get the plasterboard back here!
The Mrs wants the toilet left in as long as possible but I can work round that anyway, but will deafinetly post pics up once it's boarded. Gives you chance to take the piss out of something ay lol
I was thinking about bonding out the bad bits then skimming over the rest, got a steamer on the adhesive atm which seams to be doing a great job without blowing the plaster underneath
Hi all,
I'm redoing our little toilet which was tiled, having removed the tiles I'm left with quite a mess underneath, any suggestions on the best way to prep these walls for skimming? Tia
Hi all,
I'm currently looking to get into the plastering trade. I'm a 30 year old with a little experience working in the construction industry as a general labourer. I've recently completed a short plastering course to learn the basics and see if its something i would enjoy doing. I'm not...
I do understand it from your point of view, hence the reason for looking to work WITH a plasterer and not go out on my own. God some people act like its their trade and theirs alone! I'm simply trying to better myself song can life a decent life, if anyone has a problem with that then move along...
Hi, I've done an intensive week long course, there ok for what they are, it teaches you the basics and depends on how quickly you pick things up, I'd quite gladly have a go at doing my own home after the course but it would take a lot longer than getting a time served plasterer in to do it. I'm...
I'm sure there are naive people that will go on this course then think they can plaster, luckily I always knew that wasn't going to happen, I took the course as an introduction into the trade to get a rough feel for it. We all have to start somewhere. Wish I done 15 years ago but hey can't...
I worked with my uncle years ago, he was a chippe by trade but but we used to do a lot of dry lining, it was the best job I ever had, but unfortunately work dropped of so I had to find other work, since then I've just bounced from job to job so now I work in a factory pushing a button! Not...
Hi, I've not long completed a 4 day course to learn the basics of plastering. Now I'm looking to learn the trade. I would like to find a spread that is willing to take me on so I can start to work towards my nvq qualification. I'm 30 years old and live in Brierley Hill/Dudley. I also drive so...
Hi, yes I'm aware 4 days isn't enough but we have to start somewhere, at my age it's not easy to get an apprenticeship so i'm doing it the harder way. I'm not expecting it to be easy, i just want to build on the limited skills I have learnt and give it a real good go, hard graft and determination.
It was only the basics, in no way whatsoever am I trying to even contemplate saying I'm a plaster! I want to learn more, gain more experience, build on the foundations I've laid so to speak
Hi, as the the title says I'm new here so play nice lol .
