Guys,

Just plastered my living room and dining room which was top to bottom with the fan pattern artex.

Once it was plastered it looked perfect and nice and flat.

Once i fitted our new light flitting using warm white led bulbs its show up a lot of marks on the ceiling !!!!!

Also the same as happened when the sun has been shining through the window onto the wall !!!

Not a clue where im going wrong !!!

Do people use LED or HALOGEN lights when plastering ?

Help a brother out

Light can be a plasterers nightmare tbf if the work looks good without them on maybe a slight be of snagging would do the trick , snagging was considered part and parcel of the painting trade when painters as such were called decorators

As your asking the question, your not experienced/good enough

Saw a thread on here with a comment where someone had said whether your worlds best plasterer this type of light shows up marks.

Maybe im not but would be nice to be given some advice or tips how to rectify ?

Any advice on how to correct going forward ? Maybe bonding the walls first or 3 coating all fan pattern artex ?

I always leave it longer tbh, basically till it’s nearly set :/
Too thin on second pass then but I reckon the problem is still with your first pass, did you give it a good scrape first?once did a fireplace wall in same manner years ago as if I was plastering an old wall, same thing happened it ghosted through, never bother scraping it enough and plastered it as I normally would an old wall looked s**t!

Think it’s going to be a 3 coater on this pattern going forward. Never had any problems on any other artex or walls. Only deep fan

f**k that should be able to achieve it with two coats,be faster overboarding n skimming rather than 3 coats of that s**t

First coat
Flatten
Let it pull in a lot
Second coat
Flatten
Trowel with water
Cross dry trowel
Flattened only in one direction and your final cross only smoothed the tramline humps , that's your problem mate , flatten both ways , final trowel in line with light

I skim artex week in week out. I love how often people f**k it up.

I’ve seen 10mm skim over artex show the artex pattern through.

Skim n bonding to cover pattern. Let pull in to the point it’s near enough set. Then 2 tight coats of skim from same mix. Flawless victory every time

Only big boys can use the magic mix mate! ;)
