    Pva

So the past few months on and off I've been skimming all the artex ceilings in a big house. If they are painted it must be with original matt from when the house was built in the early 90's. I scrape back as usual then apply 2 coats of pva 50% mix as I've always done and had no problem before...

    virus, change of mind yet

Everyone has their own opinions on what's going on at the moment. If certain people believe what they see or hear on the news that's up to them. It used to be a free choice, but it's not anymore. Mandatory face nappies, social engineering. Alternative views are frowned upon and psychological...

    Multi finish auctions

I've seen these auctions too. I have 15 bags in the garage but I'm not getting rid. It's strange why ebay are not removing the listings.. When the bog roll panic was on a few weeks back I listed a single roll at £150 for a joke. Anyone who read the p#ss take description would have realised that...

    Virus

All this alleged 'virus' (no proof of it, only what the news says) is a front to take away more of the population freedoms. Its a classic case of problem, reaction, solution. The fear of the unknown will persuade many people who believe in the brainwashing propaganda that mainstream media pushes...

    Over tiles

Can tiles be skimmed over if using Blue Grit or whatever its called? I was asked by a customer today but wasn't sure so I said best to knock em off. Opinions..

    Tips for artex skimming

Scrape, pva, first coat zombie mix, multi second. Flatten with speed skim. Vac up bits ect. Trowel up to finish. Easy peasy. Ive never had a problem with going over artex. I actually like it as the ceiling looks so much better flat and modern.

    Dura finish tips

I didn't speed skim it I just used my nela to get it as flat as possible on the first coat. On the big wall I was gonna 2nd coat it but I would have been chasing my tail so I made sure the first coat was flat and smooth. Any irregular bits I either troweled out or gentle sponge / brushed until...

    Dura finish tips

I've used Durafinish quite a bit. On small walls it's OK as the second coat needs to go on almost straight after the first. You have to trowel it as level and flat as possible cause its a pig to get lines out later. It can be sponged in small areas but go gently or it just drags. I did my...

    Overboarded an artex ceiling today

I did one a few years ago. I went to scrape the high spots and the lot fell off the ceiling.. It transpired that the ceiling had been plastered over the original artex then textured to look like artex again. It clearly hadn't bonded well.. Very strange.

    Door arch

That's the beads I got. I'm doing it tomorrow and it's only over a single door so pretty straight forward. I can't believe people still want these things though..

    Door arch

Got some bendy plastic arch form bead from screw fix for £14. 2.5m 5 pack. I'll knock up a timber frame and board it.

    Door arch

I know it's a bit 80's but a customer has requested an arch to be put over a doorway. Whats the best way to go about it? I can get an arch kit at b+q but would it be easier just to knock a frame up and screw plasterboard to it.. Is there a corner bead that can be curved into a radius? I...

    Patching ceiling

Agree with above but I use fibre scrim embedded in bonding over joins then multi over. I spray the dry edges with plenty of water first so the bonding sticks better. Nela flexi to blend edges and when painted you can't tell its been patched. Circa 3 hrs

    Durafinish

Yeah did it today. Funny stuff but not as bad as that Vitcas shite.. It actually looked all "industrial" and they were chuffed with it anyway.
