They came round to have a look today, they seemed to think the job was ok! They have agreed to come back and level the walls and re skim the whole room next Friday. I was very clear that if there were any further issues i would be taking further action. I think a do need to give the a chance...

Your right and i would prefer to do that but my understanding is that i need to offer them a chance to put it right or i have no recourse to get my money back. Honestly i didn't know sites like check a trade could be so bad wont be making that mistake again. Unfortunately i don't know anyone...

Well when you put it like that....... :) The two lads who turned up did not inspire confidence. Before I let them do anything I wanted to get the one who did the work to see the issues so we are on the same page and they know where I stand and what I expect. I suspect that it will be the...

So a couple of lads turned up this morning to put it right. Sent them away and told them to get the boss who originally did the work or his business partner to come round as was originally agreed. 30min later got a call saying they would be round either tomorrow or Wednesday. Seamed reasonable...

H Hi i did PVA the brickwork with a good quality PVA at a ratio of 3:1. This was done back in November, mainly just to make the room less dusty while we did other things. When they came out to quote for the job i was clear with what i had done and that they should do what was necessary to prep.

Just curious, Do you mean the prep that I did? When they came to assess the job, I was very clear about what I had done, and I told them if they needed to do anything else to include that. We had to rip off most of the original plaster to replace a wooden box where the stairs intersects the...

Yea, I mean my background is in the pharma industry so I have to have a good eye for detail. And and the end bid the day it's my house I would have to live with it so of course I would likely be paying closer attention to it. There is definitely a point of diminishing returns where a lot more...

I appreciate the advice, It's not the same person who is coming round tomorrow as who did the plastering. Its the owner of the company who apparently has more experience. I need to discuss the work with them and give them an opportunity to respond to the issues. If they can't give a...

As a layperson that is not obvious to me. I wanted the solidness and finish of a float and set. Obviously did not got we asked for. We did ask about plasterboard but the room needed to remain as wide as possible to fit a single bed lengthways and we were worried about dot and dab being thicker...

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions. With regards to the cost I was just trying to assess if they charged us roughly the right amount so in the future when we do another room I have a better idea if the quote is too cheap, obviously I would have to factor size and difficulty in. As i have never...

What would you think my best course of action is? is it possible to rectify without ripping it off and starting again?

Hi All, I think it was mybuilder where i saw the figure of just over £500, for my own edification what sort of price would you guys charge for float and set on three walls including window relief? the 4th wall required a bit of bonding and a skim. The ceiling was not done. I had done all the...

For that room we only had the one quote but we also had another room quoted for by them and another company and they both came up with the same price. I had a quick search online and just over £500 seemed to be the norm for a room that size, with £600 being a little higher we didn't think we...
