    Drying plaster??

An 18 inch dia bladed fan works fine but noisy if you have neighbours to contend with. Its fast and mech energy is much cheaper than heating energy. Mine is 25 years old, raises dust and you get sore eyes if you work when its on. Best for leaving on overnight or when house empty.

    Another damp question

As Mondo spray or with paint brush, apply to saturation water repellent to the external walls of the flat to the external face. Don't bother repointing unless there are deep recesses between the bricks (I assume solid brick construction) or if it needed for cosmetic reasons. If floor and...

    damp wall tanking?

If you consider a typical room with four walls, A has damp as described, it faces wall D and there are say internal or party walls at B and C. If all of wall A is underground ( nsay by 300 mm) and a membrane system is to be successully installed how do you stop the damp in wall A migrating...

    damp wall tanking?

The advice you have been given might be just what is required. Out of curiosity, this wall with the bridged dpc., do any internal walls run off it? Presumably the floor is solid.

    Is this damp easily treatable

If its a nine inch wall the basic problem is it of being a cold wall. That is too thin to conserve heat. Stick 4 inch of insulation backed plasterboard on the walls. Assuming pointing ok and/or no holes in brickwork spray to saturation with water repellent to stop any rainwater penetration...

    Price of concrete ?

The move toward trenchfill and thus 750 mm to m1000 mm depth of concrete as compared to 150 to 200 mm that was required years ago is not an increasing standard but more to do with speed and convenience. Trenchfill gets you out of the ground in one day, no need to carefully ensure foundation...

Fortress in Kent requires Monocouche advice

This sort of statement only adds to the confusion. The ideal material assuming it functioned in a durable manner is a like for like replacement of what was originally used. If monocouche meets that criteria then no problem if it doesn't then a potential problem. In fact very often a sample of...

Advice please (non payment by customer)

Too early to get annoyed. As said by others call a few times. Then small claims court. Its simple and easy. If youu have to attend you can get anyone from a judge to experienced solicitor or barrister hearing your story. You have a contract with the guy you worked for, its verbal and obvious...

    Large render crack

To keep the water out fill the crack. To stop it cracking again figure out why it has cracked. There is always the (remote) possibility that the roof is about to fall on you. A photo would help.

Which Type of External Render to Use?????

Language? simply copying you Bubbles. I love observing the sensitivity of members of the pack and their inability to take what they dish out. Warrior excepted.
