Dunno if it has changed but Knauf sticky used to work great, we done hundreds of persimmon houses with the stuff. 6 year ago dunno if its changed since

    Blending plaster fresh into fresh

What i tend to do is run a skrim down the full length of the wall enough so you have 3 inches or so on the ceiling and at the bottom (its easier to pull off if) skim over the skrim and pull it off after 2nd trowel or before finishing. Clean up the raggy edge and whatever is left. Just realized...

    Am I using hardwall correctly?

always scratch between coats. its what i was taught and takes seconds. id rather scratch it to cover my own back. if that key fails first thing the customer or any person inspecting will say is where is the scratch coat

    What would you do?

paper tape the ceiling angle.... its a garage though so i would just advise the customer it will crack.

    Gas pipe

i subbed for persimmon for almost 5 years and thats what we had to do. usually everything gets pressure tested before boarding anyway. they ask for it you do it, thats house bashing

    A right bargain

we have the exact same scaffold by far the best staircase scaff we have used. there is a big opening in the ladders so you can walk through and the the top also opens on hinges so its no hassle to get up the stairs.

    Show me your posher!

the good old plunger. we still used them today on 1 day jobs, stopped everyday use about 6 year ago though. i still remember our older labourer with stick and plunger going bag for bag with the younger labourer using genny and wisk, it must of took the old timer a good year to actually leave...

    Pre plastering joints

if your one coating yes, two coating there is really no need. the tapers and beads will all be filled in by your first coat so don't see the need for any complaints there. im a one coat guy and always fill the tapers and beads then slap my one coat.

    Questions about Dot & Dab.

flynnyman has the right idea, most of the time though i just keep it a full board and put the cuts in the top. as for packers just cut 10cm squares or a off cut and place one under each board. its mainly to stop damp but it makes tapping/kicking the board back easier and you dont have to worry...

    Radiator brackets

your way is fine after all nobody will ever see the finish once the rad is back on what i do is fill the plug with a little silicone and skim like normal. The plaster if it even sticks past the 2nd trowel will not set with rest of the plaster and finish a different color making it easy to see...

    going round lights

Just trowel it as usual then use the toe of your trowel to lose and trowel marks near the light fitting, its easier loosing a 4 inch trowel mark than a 8-14 inch mark. When the plaster has took up a bit i usually screw the fitting back on loosely so it doesn't touch the plaster and run the toe...
