    EML Fixings to solid wall

Hi Malc, I have redone this job using every precaution in the book and even now (4 weeks later) cracks are appearing. I can only think that the problem must be the EML expanding and shrinking in all the heat we have had. Plus, its high up, facing all the elements above a slate roof that is...

No, you are right Keithuk, just a few elavations. That's why I want to be thorough about this next job. You have much experience with Pro-rend?

We have redone but soaked the hell out of it and covered afterwards and cracks are appearing over a week later!

Thanks, mix's were all spot on, used bucket measurements so he couldn't mess it up. We also did the chimney there which had no probs whatsoever but no eml under that!

Yes, I know all this, have done this many times but this is failing big time.

It wasn't on a painted render. Just a sand, cement, lime render.

    EML Fixings to solid wall

Yes, failed big time. Took top coat off to scratch, patched a few areas that came off to eml. Soaked scratch and reapplied top, floated and sponged. Soaked again, sheeted over with soaked cotton sheets and then scaffolders mesh at customers request. Its been over a week now and cracks have...

Stainless is used everywhere down this way due to proximity of sea and salt in the air

We protected it with old bed sheeting which customer provided and suggested and was soaked and scaffolders mesh on top of that.

My bad, we used 5 sand 1 cement scratch coat on EML and top coat 6 sand, 1 cement, 1 lime with waterproofer. I have never encountered Riblath until I started reading this forum. We used same sand and method on old garage wall few days later (minus the EML) and it came out perfect.

Fair points, Pro-rend is horrible to hand apply, really messy stuff. Are they all pretty much same systems, one coat with mesh in then immediately top coat ruled off until dried enough to scratch back?

Hi, what seems to be the best coloured render product out there? I have a full house to do soon and customer is looking to me for best product. I have only used Pro-rend HBS by SAS (hand applied) to blockwork and have mixed feelings about it (drying times vary a lot). I have not machine applied...

    Render cracking.

I have been tasked with a rendering job on a high roof near to sea and continual weather elements. The job was to EML (all stainless steel) over existing render, scratch coat and top to a sponge finish and no paint to be applied as the expense of getting scaffold to this area is high and he...

    EML Fixings to solid wall

I have recently done a job where stainless steel EML was fixed to an already rendered wall and then scratch coated and topped to a sponge finish. The customer has been the type who is constantly taking pictures and looking over your shoulder. He has now come back to me saying that I have not...
