    small damp problem, render?

    How about a stud wall(tanalised sole plate) set in front,cuts down on the sqm of the room slightly but solves the problem of decoration.Still rather sort the damp properly but if the punter just wants a quick fix then maybe its worth a thought.

    Trouble is,the scaffolders are now charging for gear as its been up for weeks,punters want job finished,and this is the last part of a big contract that i have 4.5k invested in and need to get the money out to be able to carry on with other works.b*****d weather,its either freezing or chucking...

    Going to second coat two chimneys tomorrow,do think i should use a frost proofer or just go with the waterproofer as there is a chance it will get down to 0 degrees.I have been waiting 6 weeks to finish these and the long range weather for the next ten days is proper shite. ::)

    Recon the lights on me van would struggle to illuminate the chimneys,i will suggest to the gaffer in the morning about binning the pva as the general rule seems to be to just dampen down. Thanks anyway mate

    I understand what you are saying,the bloke i work with has been rendering and plastering for about 30 years and has done it all,the first coat went on three weeks ago and so we dont have to go at it like idiots and risk ballsing it up he suggested a coat of pva to give us time to get it on...

    2 chimneys,2 seperate scaffs so a fair bit of running around so i wll need a bit of time and will need to reduce the chance of cracking as wont be able to access once the scaffs come down.

    Don't need anymore snow,jobsite still thawing out after 3 weeks under it.Thought the pva route would be best but needed a second opinion.

    evening all,quick question about top coat render.I laid up first coat before christmas and the the weather came in,i am going to second coat this week,my question is whether to damp down or uni-bond first coat to control suction.What do you think?

    Rendering over old chimney render

    Yeah,its unpainted.Hand scat as well so i thought it would have fairly good key.Think a bit extreme to demolish chimney.Looked at the Rend-aid website and they say it can be used on un-painted render but could do with some input from you guys as want to get this right.
