    Advice Needed - Cowboy Plasterers

Before - botch job - fixed - final result. Spoke to the original “plasterer” today and he was honest enough say he made a mistake and didn’t want payment. So overall it’s worked out ok.

Given the state the other guys left the ceiling in, this is obviously a compromise, rather than taking the whole thing down. I think the ceiling looks great personally so it’s a good job I’m the one living with it and not you then. Would you prefer a client that told you what they wanted or one...

Based on the recommendation on here. He said he’s other fillers before but would give it a go.

I told the decorator to use the Esaifill ready mixed stuff. What you reckon.... will it do the job?

Talking about painted work. Here’s a few pics of the ceiling in the hallway where they did remove the paper. Decorator spent half a day trying to correct it. Been recommended Easi Filler as it can be sanded very thin. Any other thoughts?

    Advice Needed - Cowboy Plasterers

My plumber told me a horry story where he was knocked for £3k by someone who paid the deposit, but when he finished, they told him they didn’t have the money to pay him. Apparently there are people out there who just do this as a matter of course. I’m not one of those. In fact I tipped the guys...

Lodan you have quite strong opinions on this.... was it you who did the first plaster by any chance?

    Advice Needed - Cowboy Plasterers

Just for clarity. The decorator recommended a “plasterer” he knew called Dave (not his real name). I organised the job with Dave. Dave didn’t turn up on the day he said and txt me 30 minutes before he was meant to arrive saying his workmate was still on holiday, but he could make it the next...

Decorator will prime it with this http://www.zinsseruk.com/product/gardz/ With regards to paying the other plasterer, considering it’s now cost me more than he was charging me, to correct his botch, I was going to offer to pay for his materials and travel costs as a gesture of goodwill. He...

That’s for the decorator to worry about. I’m just glad it’s flat!

    Advice Needed - Cowboy Plasterers

Here’s the finished result. I went for an overboard in the end to simplify the job and reduce the mess and really happy with the end result! The guys that did it were in a different league that the jokers that did the botch job. Seeing these guys in action made me realise the others couldn’t...

    Anyone Know What This Is?

The building management firm have had an extensive asbestos survey of the building and sent me the report. Also they confirmed it’s the same material across all the ceilings and there is 100% no asbestos in the ceilings. Got a quote of £2k to take it down and re-board and skim it! Looks like...

    Anyone Know What This Is?

Firstly it’s from the 30’s. Received the building asbestos survey today and have had it confirmed there is 100% no asbestos in the ceilings. Only places in the building are behind a few fuse boxes.
